CT Lottery and Stop & Shop Partner to Support Seymour Pink’s “Pounding the Pavement for Pink” 5K

SEYMOUR, Conn. (October 10, 2024) – In a generous display of community support, Stop & Shop in Ansonia opted to donate a $10,000 selling bonus awarded by the Connecticut Lottery Corporation (CLC) to an important cause. Rather than keeping the selling bonus, which was earned for the sale of a $1 million winning Powerball ticket, Stop & Shop donated the entire retailer bonus to Seymour Pink, a local nonprofit dedicated to raising awareness and funds for breast cancer research.

The donation was in support of Seymour Pink’s 13th annual Pounding the Pavement for Pink 5K, which took place on Saturday, October 5, 2024, in Seymour, Connecticut. The Pounding the Pavement for Pink 5K saw over 2,200 registered runners and walkers participate, joined by an additional 1,000 spectators who cheered from the sidelines. The event, held every year on the first Saturday of October, aims to unite the community in the fight against breast cancer and raise vital funds for research and support programs.

During a special check presentation at the event, representatives from Stop & Shop, CLC, and Seymour Pink came together on stage to celebrate the moment. Pictured (above) during the presentation were (from left to right): Rob Kelly, CT Lottery; Mary Deming, Seymour Pink; and Rachel Enama, Stop & Shop. CLC President and CEO, Frank Suarez, expressed pride in the partnership, stating, “We are honored to stand with Stop & Shop in support of vital community initiatives such as Seymour Pink. The CT Lottery is proud to assist our retail partners in supporting their communities.”
