Management Analyst
Minnesota Lottery
John is an 18-year lottery industry veteran and has been in his current role as a Management Analyst with the Minnesota Lottery for 10 years. When the Minnesota Lottery needed someone to take on the project management of the Lottery’s largest FY24 initiative, John answered the call for help. He took the lead on the mobile app development, website partial conversion, and player account management system transfer project.
This multifaceted project required attention to detail, excellent communication skills, organizational talent, and the ability to critically analyze information. John dove into the project, crafting specifications, envisioning the UI and UX, and making sure all the components would work together. He led meetings and discussions between three vendor partners, recruited and managed a crew of 40 internal app testers, and ran multiple weekly meetings with various groups of internal stakeholders. He dedicated long days and late nights to keep the project moving forward and made sure that no task was missed.
John’s work resulted in a smooth transition of years of data from an old PAM system to a new system operated by a new vendor. Website updates resulted in more automation and greater efficiencies for Lottery staff. The mobile convenience app launch rolled out in two parts this spring and has been well-received by customers and the public. All of these project components are critical to the operation of the Lottery and will better prepare the organization for the future.
As a result of John’s involvement in this project, he has expanded his knowledge of Lottery systems, enhanced his leadership skills, and developed good working relationships inside and outside of the organization. The successful outcome of this project would not have been possible without the dedication, commitment, and thoughtful work product of John Brandenburg.
