and profits for Fiscal Year 2024, including the Lottery’s highest-ever profit transfer of $1.51 billion to the Lottery Profits Education Fund, which supports K through 12, vocational, and special education programs in Ohio. This profit transfer is nearly $50 million more than last year and was achieved thanks to the dedication of Ohio Lottery retailers, vendor partners, staff, and enthusiastic players.
The Lottery recorded $4.54 billion in traditional lottery sales, topping the previous year - beating a record set in FY23 by $80 million. The Lottery’s Scratch-Off category proved its prowess with record sales of $2.38 billion, $44.8 million more than the previous year.
Lottery players embraced self-service kiosks, evidenced by self-serve sales of all Lottery games reaching a record $1.37 billion. Scratch-off sales from self-service kiosks also set a record reaching $633.3 million – an increase of $50.1 million.
Daily draw games Pick 3, Pick 4, and Pick 5 reached $761.3 million, surpassing the previous year by $29.1 million. Multi-state draw games Powerball and Mega Millions and Lucky for Life surpassed the previous year’s sales with $488.5 million, driven by record Mega Millions and Powerball jackpots in July 2023.
“I’m very proud of the efforts our team puts into our games and sales, and this year’s record transfer to education is a testament to their dedication to the product and our players’ excitement for the games,” Ohio Lottery Director Michelle Gillcrist said.
Notably, Ohio Lottery retailers earned over $299 million in bonuses, incentives, and commissions, and Ohio Lottery players won over $3 billion in prizes, setting a record at $116 million more than the previous year.
Net win from the video lottery terminals (VLT) was $1.37 billion, which resulted in total profit from VLT games of $445.7 million. The Lottery’s share of revenue from Lottery Sports Gaming was $306,011.
