RG and CSR Take the Spotlight in Atlanta

Published January 21, 2025

In early January, members of the responsible gambling and corporate social responsibility communities throughout the lottery industry came together in Atlanta for the first-ever joint seminar on RG/CSR presented by the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries (NASPL) and the World Lottery Association (WLA). Hosted by the Georgia Lottery and its CEO Gretchen Corbin, an engaged group of some 100 attendees filled a conference room at the Omni Atlanta Hotel at Centennial Park. They were treated to an exceptional speaker lineup that included representatives from lotteries and other organizations from almost 20 jurisdictions around the world.

“With so much international participation, it was a great opportunity to share ideas and learn from others, making it an extremely interesting, engaging, and valuable experience,” said NASPL Executive Director David Gale.

“On behalf of NASPL, I send a very special ‘thank you’ to Gretchen and her staff for making this a very positive and memorable event. Their work was truly outstanding.”

Ten informative sessions covered a number of important topics:

  • Youth Gambling Prevention Measures

  • Best Practices in Employee Training

  • Best Practices in Retailer Training

  • Best Practices in Stakeholder Engagement

  • Best Practices in Environmental Measures

  • Best Practices in Incentivizing Players and RG Marketing Promotions

  • The NASPL/EL/WLA CSR Digital RG Platform

  • RG From a Vendor Perspective

  • RG Research

  • RG Influencers

There were two additional highlights of the program. On the first day, Corbin and Georgia State Senator Bill Cowsert came together in an engaging conversation, and the next day’s featured speaker was Tim Zulawski, President of AMB Sports & Entertainment, whose holdings include the Atlanta Falcons NFL team and major league soccer’s Atlanta United FC.

It wasn’t all work and no play. An entertaining evening was spent at the amazing Georgia Aquarium, and a few attendees (limited due to space considerations) were invited to attend a live Mega Millions drawing conducted at the studios of WSB-TV in Atlanta.

Presentations and videos from the seminar will soon be available on the NASPL Matrix and on the WLA website, and Gale offered his thanks to all the participants, many of whom battled the weather to travel to Atlanta. “Your participation was extremely important to the success of the event.”
